I love eating out but lets face it, no one always has the time to enjoy a long lunch... especially when you're doing so in your lunch break or jumping between uni and work! However, I believe that just because you only have 30 minutes to enjoy a meal, doesn't mean that you can't get yourself something both quick and flavoursome. My philosophy is that you should never compromise the happiness of your tastebuds and tummy!
My favourite place to go to when I'm in the city but far too busy to enjoy a deluxe lunch is Pepper Lunch! I believe it is a crime for people, especially broke uni students... to not know about Pepper Lunch. Located in George St, Sydney (close to the Cinema's and World Square), Pepper Lunch serves quick, cheap and delicious Japanese meals... and no, I'm not talking about Sushi but something a little more filling!
The Pepper Lunch Menu is extensive so I suggest you take a look at their website to find out more: http://www.pepperlunch.com.au/. However, if you want my advice... always go with the Double Hamburger Steak. I'm hungry just thinking about it.
Now, if you've never been to Pepper Lunch... things might be a bit strange. Upon ordering your meal at the counter (just like at a fast food restaurant), you'll be given a table number. Then, your meal will be delivered to you on a sizzling hot plate... still half-raw. Don't worry though! All you have to do is mix it about and voila! It'll be cooked in a matter of seconds. You can also pour as much or as little garlic or sweet (or both) soy sauce as you please.
The Double Hamburger stake is a favourite of mine. It's salty, sweet and garlic-y while the bean sprouts are crunchy and fresh. The hamburger steak tends to melt in your mouth and oozes flavour. When eaten with rice, it's both delicious and filling... and super cheap. I believe it's $11.50 a plate, though I may be a little off.
If you're in the city and in need of a cheap, delicious and non-fussy meal... I would definitely recommend Pepper Lunch. However, I can't guarantee that by trying it you will not start up an addiction... because you will. It is simply, inevitable!
